About us
MODA Jiu Jitsu is a family-friendly academy built to support students of all ages in a safe, welcoming, and structured environment. From children taking their first steps on the mats to adults continuing their Jiu Jitsu journey, the focus is on learning, confidence, and personal development.
Classes at MODA are designed around clear progression, strong fundamentals, and thoughtful coaching. Through repetition, positional understanding, and age-appropriate training, students are encouraged to grow at their own pace while developing solid skills that last. The emphasis is always on quality learning, enjoyment, and consistency.
Under the guidance of Head Instructors Donal Carmody & Damien Barrett, who bring over 20 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MODA follows a modern and evolving approach while maintaining a strong sense of tradition and respect. Teaching is centred on helping students understand Jiu Jitsu, feel supported, and build confidence both on and off the mats.
More than just a gym, MODA is a close-knit community where families feel welcome and students support one another.
